Cancer Research UK

The Orthodontic Clinic is supporting Cancer Research UK and many of our team will be taking part in the Race for Life on Sunday 2nd July to raise money and awareness for this very worthwhile charity.
Please do what you can to help support Cancer Research UK. You can sponsor us and donate here and even cheer us on this Sunday, 2nd July at 11am, at the Kings Links, Beach Esplanade in Aberdeen where Team TOC will be doing the 5K and 10K. Let’s beat cancer together!
The Orthodontic Clinic will support each of us in this battle and will donate £60 per TOC family member.
£30 will be donated via each team member’s Cancer research link and £30 will be donated via Cancer Research Foundation link below.

Dr Lisa Currie's 50th birthday

We just had a fabulous party to celebrate Dr Lisa Currie's 50th birthday!
Held at the Virgin Hotel, there were lots of Lisa's friends and family to help wish her a very Happy Birthday and mark her special day.
Of course all of her TOC family were there and it really was a very special night - lots of love around for the birthday girl!!

Thank you so much to the team Virgin Hotel and had a wonderful dinner at their EVE restaurant.
The ambiance was amazing, but what made it even more special were the gorgeous flowers from Pixie Rose Flowers Edinburgh and the fun balloons from Pretty Little balloons.
It was truly a memorable experience and I just had to share it with you!
Fellowship Award from Abhi Pal

We're so proud of Dr Lisa Currie, (Clinical Director/ Consultant Orthodontist), who has just been admitted to the College of General Dentistry as a new Fellow.
Dr Currie was selected to be given the award of Fellowship of the College (FCGDent) by the College through experience and her contribution to dentistry throughout her career so far.
She accepted her Fellowship award at the Summer Reception which took place on the 15th June at Cutlers' Hall in London.
Amazing to be recognised in this way!
To be welcomed into the College is a great honour - it was a lovely evening, not only receiving the award but also a great opportunity to network with peers, as well as to meet College Trustees and Council members.
She accepted her Fellowship award from Abhi Pal, President of the College.

Team TOC attended the Scottish Dental Show last weekend at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow.
It was a wonderful dental event, with lots great lectures (thank you, Dr Lisa Currie!) and exhibitors.
We had a super time, meeting other dental colleagues, learning more about new products and staying up to date with current trends and updates in dentistry.

Interceptive Orthodontics

Now in its 11th year, the Scottish Dental Show returns to Braehead Arena on Glasgow on the 19th and 20th May and our Clinical Director and Consultant Orthodontist, Dr Lisa Currie, is honoured to have been asked to lecture in the educational programme.
Dr Currie's lecture is titled "Interceptive Orthodontics" and will focus on what types of patients require early orthodontic referral from dentists in order to prevent future problems.
The education programme for the dental profession features more than 70 Lectures and Workshops.
There will also be more than 120 exhibitors displaying all the latest dental technology, products and services.
We're really looking forward to the show and also delightee and proud to have Dr Currie speak at the event!
It promises to be an excellent show! See you there!

Training Session for The Dental Vocational Trainees

Dr Lisa Currie (Clinical Director) delivered a training session for the Dental Vocational Trainees (VTs) at the Aberdeen Dental Education Centre recently.
She spoke to the VTs from the North East Training Scheme about Interceptive Orthodontics, how to identify problems in general dental practice and when to refer.

Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow

We are so proud of our very own Dr Lisa Currie (Clinical Director of The Orthodontic Clinic) who is now a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow (RCSP Glasgow).
The graduation ceremony was held on Friday 22nd November at the University of Glasgow. A very proud day indeed...
She is already a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Faculty of Dental Surgery) and was awarded this through examination in 2006.
This year, she was honoured to be elected to receive a Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (Orthodontics) from the RCPS Glasgow.
Becoming a Fellow is an acknowledgement of an individual's contribution to the dental profession, its standards and practice. It's truly an honour.
Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) is offered to dental surgeons who, in the opinion of College, have made substantial contributions to their specialty or who are senior members of the dental profession and whose published works and attainments are, in the opinion of the Council, of such distinction as to justify election.
Congratulations Dr Currie on this outstanding achievement!

British Dental Association Group of Dundee and Perth

Dr Lisa Currie was invited by the Dean of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Professor Graham Ogden, to speak for the British Dental Association Group of Dundee and Perth last night.
Dundee University is Lisa's alma mater, where she graduated in Dentistry with Honours in 1996. The lecture was given to an audience of both hospital and general dentists and was titled "The management of snoring and mild sleep apnoea - a dental perspective."
Lisa has carried out a Masters research degree in this subject and it is a field of dentistry that she has a special interest in.
She spoke about the role of dentists in screening and managing these types of patients and the various oral appliances that can be used to treat the condition.
Approximately 50 people attended and it was a real honour to be invited to speak at the University of Dundee where she graduated 23 years ago.
The Orthodontic Clinic provides anti-snoring treatment and both Dr Currie and Dr Rodolfino are accredited practitioners for the Somnowell appliance.
Team Building 2019

On Tuesday 17th September, it was TOC's 1 year anniversary of us moving into our new premises at 21 Golden Square!!
We've had an amazing year and to celebrate our 1st birthday, our TOC family had a dedicated day of team building at Lochter Activity Centre.
It was an incredible day with fun activities including 4x4 blindfold driving, digger challenge, clay pigeon shooting, archery, go carting and a tyre challenge.
What an amazing place and such great staff who treated us so well.
It was an absolutely super day; just a brilliant time had by all but most importantly, a wonderful bonding experience for us all to strengthen our relationships and help us be the best team we can be.

British Dental Conference And Dentistry Show

We had an amazing time at the Dental Awards last night! We did not take away a prize but were absolutely delighted to be representing our clinic and Aberdeen and be finalists as Dental Team of the Year.
We love our TOC team and are very proud of you!!!!
It is the last day of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show today and we’ve enjoyed it immensely, seeing all the exhibitors and suppliers and trying out the latest products and innovations in dentistry.
We are making the most of rest of the show and the NEC at Birmingham before we head back home to Aberdeen!

What a brilliant night at the Scottish Dental Awards last night!
Our team attended this wonderful event again this year, held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.

The Orthodontic Clinic held our Grand Opening Luau Party on Wednesday night, and it was a wonderful celebration shared with our super-team and good friends, family and professional colleagues.
It was a Hawaiian theme and all of us were ready for surfing, dressed in our Hawaiian floral shirts!
The clinic was decorated in gorgeous balloons and fabulous florals and blooms, courtesy of Pixie Dust Balloons by Jordan, and Hazel from Robin's Egg. (Amazing people to work with and what an incredible job they did!) Gorgeous tropical theme with pinks and greys throughout - can we keep these forever?
